Understanding Video Formats: MP4, MOV, AVI and More

A comprehensive breakdown of video formats and which one is best for your downloads.

Why Video Format Matters

When you download a video, the format it comes in affects compatibility, file size, and quality. Understanding the differences can help you make better choices for your needs.

Common Video Formats

MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14)

MP4 is the most widely supported video format. It offers an excellent balance between quality and file size, and works on virtually every device and platform. This is the format our downloader uses for all downloads.

MOV (QuickTime)

MOV is Apple's native video format. It offers high quality but larger file sizes. Best suited for Apple ecosystem users.

AVI (Audio Video Interleave)

AVI is an older format developed by Microsoft. It produces large files but maintains quality. Less commonly used today.

WebM

WebM is an open format optimized for web use. It provides good quality at smaller file sizes but has limited device support compared to MP4.

Our Recommendation

We always deliver videos in MP4 format because it is the most compatible and widely supported format across all devices, operating systems, and media players.
